Mr Brightside

Ellen has had a great week. She has been on the train to London, walked along the Southbank and visited the Tate Modern. She then spent the weekend on the Suffolk coast throwing stones into the sea and eating ice cream. We now await a week of tests...

Last dose done

Ellen has completed her last round of 'low dose' chemotherapy and is amazingly still smiling. We now have three weeks to allow her to recover (and hopefully have lots of fun). During this time she will have a number of tests and scan to check how the neuroblastoma has responded to treatment. Provided the response is adequate she will have what is left of the tumour removed on the 8th June.......

Dose seven

Ellen's seventh chemo dose passed with little complication. Her hospital visit involved the usual routine of running from the playroom, to outside, to pottery painting, then through the hospital corridors and lifts with one of us following close behind trying to negotiate her drip stand - a job that requires a suprising amount of skill! We have one more chemo dose to go next weekend and then on to the operation.....

So Far

Ellen is currently six doses into eight of chemotherapy. She has coped very well with great cheer and zest for life. The tumour has thankfully shrunk one hundrerd fold!!! Ellen has a tough few months ahead with an operation on the 9th June followed by a bone marrow transplant, high dose chemo and radiotherapy. These are a selection of photos of her progress to date .....
